Hey y’all! Happy Wednesday, and happy August! HOW has another summer month flown by?! I cannot believe that summer is winding down already! We packed just about as much fun and travel as we could into our summer, and I can’t wait to share more about that soon! For today I want to share about my experience working with a fantastic brand and logo designer, Kelsea of Kindly by Kelsea. I contacted her at the beginning of the summer and asked her to assist me by giving my logo a little refresh. What I didn’t expect was that she would also create some beautiful patterns for me to use, be a great support system, AND help me align my goals and vision for Mallorie Gayle Photography!

The final logo I selected uses a classic and timeless typeface (aka font…for any non designers out there like me!), incorporates the year that I began this little venture of mine, and my favorite addition is the dogwood flower illustration. I love flowers, and I thought that adding a floral element would add something feminine yet personal. Kelsea illustrated the dogwood herself, she has such talent! Choosing the dogwood, which is Virginia’s state flower, serves as a nod to the state my family now calls home. It’s the place where we are raising our family, putting down our own roots, and calling our own. I’m still a Texan at heart, but I’m learning to love this east coast state of ours.

One of my very favorite design elements that Kelsea created was a pattern out of an old family recipe. My husband’s Granny Lucy makes his very favorite dessert on this earth, Kentucky Derby Pie. I managed to get a handwritten copy of her recipe, and Kelsea was able to turn it into a digital pattern! Is that not just the most amazing thing?! I cannot wait to get my personalized stationary in my hands to send out some fun mail with this treasured, personal, brand item.

Not only is Kelsea extremely talented and such a sweet soul, but she’s also a Texas girl! We had so much fun collaborating on this project together! I just have to say this, I am so excited to be blogging again, y’all! I can’t wait to catch up on blogging all of my amazing weddings I’ve had this year, as well as some special family and newborn sessions! I used to be a big blogger when my daughter was a baby, but somewhere along the way I stopped. I’m thrilled to be able to share more of my work with y’all in this format!
